Novar Focuses on Grocery Retailers at National Retail Federation 2011
Novar Broadens Its Market Services With Launch of Energy Management and Operational Efficiency Solutions for Multi-Site Grocery Retailers
NEW YORK - January 10, 2011 - Novar, a division of Honeywell (NYSE: HON), that provides strategic energy management solutions for multi-site customers, today begins demonstrations at the National Retail Federation's (NRF) 100th Annual Convention & Expo. The demonstrations focus on Novar's new offerings within the grocery industry, featuring two new products, Opus® Rcc.521 BACnet Refrigeration Case/Circuit Controller and Novar's new Refrigerant Leak Detection Panel. The new products will work seamlessly with Novar's Opus solution, which provides energy management and control systems for customers with multi-site facilities.
Novar's expansion into this new market segment is driven by attractive market conditions that are influenced by the changing needs of multi-site grocery retailers. These companies face rising energy costs, and increasing environmental regulatory compliance requirements, such as refrigerant emissions tracking and food safety HAACP reporting.
First shown to a select group of customers at the Food Marketing Institute's (include link?) (FMI) Energy and Store Development Conference in September, the new grocery specific offerings feature superior refrigeration energy efficiency and better product temperature control than traditional mechanical thermostatic expansion valves. The Opus Rcc.521 Case/Circuit Controller will provide grocery retailers the open, flexible and efficient refrigeration control needed to lower total energy costs and improve overall refrigeration system performance. Novar's new refrigerant leak detection panel allows grocery retailers to monitor refrigerant gas levels in walk-in coolers/freezers.
"Food loss, energy price fluctuation and environmental regulatory compliance are major issues grocery retailers are constantly trying to avoid," said Novar President Dean Lindstrom. "We developed the grocery retail solutions offering to not only prevent these conditions, but also to improve profitability by reducing overall energy use."
Built on the NiagaraAX Framework® software, the Opus system can orchestrate the HVAC, lighting, energy, security, unitary devices and refrigeration functions of any multi-site facility. Opus integrates these diverse systems and devices - regardless of manufacturer or communications protocol - into a unified platform that can be managed and controlled in real time using a standard Web browser.
